Advanced editing practice
This creative task has given me my first try at editing quickly to make different effects in a video. For example the jumping still shots used here made a floating effect. With practise we could make this effect look really realistic. Holding the camera in the same place using a tripod and also doing more cuts to make the floating smoother would improve this. We also had some practise at using slow motion with an iPhone. We thought that this would be effective with shots such as throwing things in the air and flicking money. This we may use in our video for effect.
When planning our main video we thought a lot about the idea of money and slow motion. here we practised using slow motion to make money fall using paper. we may include shots such as this in the final piece to illustrate some of the lyrics.
This advanced editing was an attempt at throwing a bottle empty and having it land full with one edit. Unfortunately the bottle was out of shot for the majority of the throw so it is hard to see any change take place. This shot was a failure but it gave our group practice at editing with extreme eye for detail to make it seem as if the bottle was not altered.
Analysis Of Artist Branding
http://joshrosey191.wix.com/mysite
I learnt about how an artist creates their brand and stays relevant in this task. I didn't realise that social media played such a big role in promoting a brand and also promoting new content. Social media pages such as Twitter and Instagram are taken very seriously by the artists. They show similar themes in this to what they wear on live performances and to how there new releases are styled. This all comes together to make a memorable and fluent brand identity which is often a huge part in what makes an artist so recognisable. For example when an audience thinks of Lady Gaga they immediately think about the artists style of dress. Sia's unique branding where she doesn't show a face is a brilliant branding as it is very original and unique creating a mystery around the artist.

Analysis of Digipak Adverts
From this task i have learnt about how Digipaks are promoted through the use of adverts. There are typical codes and conventions just like on the websites. For example the name of the artist or their next album is bold and is often the focus of the image. From looking at Digipak adverts i would say that they differ from normal adverts by being simple. Lots of normal adverts have much more information on them and can sometimes look cluttered. Lana Del Rays has her name and the name of her album with only a few details below that are written in a very small font. I have also seen how some of the adverts work with the websites. The Script has created a good brand identity by using the same style of fonts and images for their adverts and website. Doing this will encourage their audience to look across all of the media platforms they have made. The camera angles from adverts i looked at were mostly straight on or a slight low angle like the Lana Del Rey's ad. These shots give a clear image of the artist and a low angle makes them look powerful.

Photoshop Attempts
We took these photos with a DSLR camera to get a crisp and focused image. These two raw photos were shot straight after each other so I thought that they would be good to fade over each other. Matt Wagstaff on the right stays in the same position In the image so I thought that I would be able to create a good overlap of the two photos.

First I uploaded the images to Photoshop, put one on top of the other and changed the opacity of the second image to 80%.
Then I went on to Photoshop's texts to try different texts and fonts out to see what they looked like over the image. I looked at all the basic fonts on Photoshop then turned to Dafont to find some more original text. I chose for the text to be positioned above the characters as It makes a central image and the green background helps black font stand out
I thought that the Rotulona font I'm using was fun and different.
We also shot some panorama images as I think that these would look good as a single image on a long Digipak inside cover. There is a clear split in images on these shots so practicing doing these with tripods may improve the overall quality. This was shot on an IPhone 6 using the panorama feature.
I also experimented with the idea of making an actual Cd cover to see what my design would look like.
I attempted to add the photo to a frame of a CD case multiple times but getting the dimensions correct was difficult as I had to keep stretching the photos. This I will keep in mind when i do my real Photoshop as I will make the dimensions on Photoshop correct so i do not have to alter the image afterwards.
30 Cut Chorus
This task gave me some experience in making lots of quick cuts to make a narrative. We tried to tell a short story which could be used as a narrative in a music video. We tried to use lots variation in shots and camera movement. For example we used high angle shots, long shots and close ups as well as pans and tracks. These are all techniques which we will try to include in our final piece. Some of the shots look shaky and of poor quality. We will try to solve issues like this with camera equipment such as bipods and camera steadier's. I believe that this will give the film more polish and will make it look more professional. This task has also outlined how important it is to link the editing between shots with our music. Here we failed to cut on the beat and therefore our video doesn't seem linked to the music. In the final piece we will try to cut on the beat to make a more fluent music video. We also used Will Whittleton as our main actor for this video and were impressed with his ability and confidence in front of the camera. This is why we may consider using him as an actor in our final product.
